- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY
The Authority’s system is alternating current at a frequency of 50Hertz. The medium voltage supply will be either 230 volts single phase or 400 volts three phase.
- INSTALLATION
Wiring installation shall be executed to the approval of the Authority which will inspect and/or test the installation once free of charge. For all subsequent tests, a fee per test is payable in advance.
- SERVICE LINE
The nature and location of service lines and other supply facilities shall be determined by the Authority. The Authority shall be a liberty at any time to take branch services off the service lines whether on the customer’s premises or not, for the purpose of supplying electricity to any other premises. The customers shall obtain and maintain all facilities required by the Authority for the installation of the service line including the necessary way leaves over his own or adjust property which the Authority may require.
- ACCESS TO PREMISES
The customer shall give the Authority all reasonable and necessary access to the customer’s premises for the purpose of connecting, disconnecting, inspecting, testing, altering, replacing, maintaining or removing any service line, meter and/or other apparatus or any part thereto and for reading meter. The Authority’s official Identity Card, upon demand. The customer shall pay a fee for each special meter reading made on request.
- ADDITIONAL APPARATUS
After the installation referred in the schedule on the front hereof has been tested and passed by the Authority, the customer shall not have any additional apparatus connected to his installation without submitting an Application Form NEPA 74 to the Authority giving at least seven days notice of his intention to do so, and he shall not use such additional apparatus until the installation has been re-tested and passed by the Authority. Neglect of this precaution may cause interruption of supply and damage to NEPA Equipment. A penalty may be imposed or default.
- TESTING AND ACCURACY OF METER
Should customer or Authority give notice disputing the accuracy of meter, such meter shall be tested by the Authority. If the customer considers his meter is inaccurate, his notice that effect shall be accompanied by a deposit to cover the cost of the test. In the event of the meter having an error exceeding the limits of error as may be allowed by the regulations in force, the amount payable for electricity charges for the period for which the customer is charged on the last invoice rendered prior to the notice of dispute shall be determined by correcting the registration in question by reference to the degree on inaccuracy shown by the test and deposit shall be returned to the customer. If the meter shall have ceased to register, the customer shall pay to the Authority such amount as may be estimated by the Authority to be payable for that period.
- DISCONTINUANCE OF SUPPLY
Not less than seven clear days notice in writing shall be given to the Authority by the customer before vacating the premises. In default of such notice the customer shall be liable to the Authority for all accounts arising until such notice is received or until the Authority accepts an application for supply to the same installation from another customer. The Authority reserves the right to discontinue supply of electricity when other customers are being connected or when the Authority’s main or apparatus are being tested, repeated or in cases of unavoidable interruptions due to fire, flood, tempest, accidents and broken-down machinery, etc.
- PAYMENT FOR ELECTRICITY
From the date supply is made available; the customer shall pay monthly for all electricity supplied in accordance with a tariff or tariffs in force. Official Receipts are issued by the Authority for all payments made to it. Customers are advised on each occasion to check that the amount machine-printed on their receipts bills correspond to the sum paid by them.
- SPECIAL NOTE:
The customer’s attention is drawn to Clause 26 of Decree No.24 (1972) National Electric
Power Authority which states as follows:
“Whenever any customer of electricity supplied by the Authority leaves the premises where such electricity has been supplied to him without paying the charges for electricity or meter rental due from him, the Authority shall be entitled to recover from the next tenant the arrears left unpaid by the former tenant unless the in-coming tenant has before consuming electricity given notice to the Authority requesting the meter to be read or notice of the date of commencement of his tenancy where no meter is supplied
- RESPONSIBILITY FOR AUTHORITY APPARATUS
The customer shall insure and keep insured against damage or destruction by fire and shall be solely responsible for the safe custody of the meter and other apparatus belonging to the Authority installed at his premises, and shall not damage, alter or remove the same, or obliterate or remove any such marks, words or numbers thereon, or permit any such damage, alteration, removal or obliteration. Without prejudice to any such damage or reimburse the Authority to the extent of any loss the Authority may sustain by reason of any breach of these conditions and regulations. The customer shall forthwith give notice to the Authority of any break-down, failure, loss, injury or damage to the meter or any apparatus belonging to the Authority installed in his premises. A penalty may be imposed for default.
- NON-LIABILITY OF AUTHORITY
The Authority will not be responsible for any loss or damage occasioned to any person or property, whether belonging to the customer or not, arising out of any defects in or accidents to the Wiring Installation or by the use of the electricity supplied or any apparatus used in connection therewith whether or not such Writing Installation or apparatus belong to the Authority or through any fault arising on the Authority’s system or for any cause beyond their control.
- THE IMPROPER USE OF SUPPLY
If the customer shall make use of supply in such a way as to interfere with or cause irregularities in the general distribution of the supply, immediate steps shall be taken to remedy the defects complained of, otherwise the supply will be discontinued.
- BREACH OF AGREEMENT
If the customer shall neglect or refuse to pay for the electricity supplied in accordance with these conditions and regulations, or become subject to the bankruptcy laws or enter into liquidation or suffer execution to be made on his effects or commit any other breach of this agreement, the Authority may terminate this agreement and/or discontinue the supply of electricity and/or remove the apparatus belonging to them without prejudice to any other right of action or remedy the Authority may have for the recovery of the accounts. If the supply is discontinued under this clause, it shall not be recounted until the monies owing to the Authority plus the cost of disconnection and reconnection have been paid.
- REVISION OF ITEMS, ETC
The Authority may from time to time, on giving notice to the customer in Writing or by public notice amend or alter any of the above Conditions and Regulations of supply or their scale of charges and such amendments or alterations shall take effect as from the date specified in the said notice.
